Care Ministry

The Care Ministry Committee spearheads the congregation's response to the ill, aged, underprivileged, and in general, all persons in need.  In doing so, the committee strives to include as many members of the congregation as possible in this response.  The committee is also responsible for making known to the church council any local social conditions in which the church may bring cleansing, comfort, and healing to people or situations where Christian love and justice are needed.

Care Ministry, under the leadership of Dona Bean - Care Coordinator, is very active at Christ Lutheran.  Their ministries include:
Altar Flowers  - This ministry delivers altar flowers to our shut-in members or those hospitalized. Team Leader-Marge Penvose
Bereavement Ministry  - People who serve on this committee provide ministry support to members of Christ Lutheran who are experiencing grief due to the death of a loved one. Team Leader - Paula Giffin
Card Ministry 
- Cards are sent to Christ Lutheran members who are hospitalized. Team Leader - Karen Deasey
College Student Support  - "Stress" boxes, filled with treats donated by members, are sent to our college students and members in the military in the fall. During the spring, gift cards are sent, provided by our congregational members.
Convalescent Meals Ministry  - This ministry helps those who have been discharged from the hospital by arranging for meals, donated by members, to be delivered to the home of the person recuperating. Team Leader - Linda Smith
DuBois Ministerium Food Pantry  - The local food pantry needs are brought to our congregation's attention through this committee. Team Leaders - Bea Dixon & Marilou Knoblcoh
Funeral Dinners - This committee plans and serves meals following funerals.  Team Leaders - Ruth Cussins & Nora Gelnett.
Helping Hands  - Helping Hands is designed to help elderly or shut-in members perform simple household tasks they are unable to do themselves. Team Leaders - Rich Johnson & Linda London
Lutheran World Relief - Each year, congregational members are invited to donate items for class kits, health kits, and layettes; and also donate soap and blankets. Team Leaders - Marilou Knobloch and Joann Segerberg
Red Cross Community Disaster Relief  - If there is a local natural disaster, our church building would be available to those who need a place to stay until further accommodations can be arranged.
Shut-in ministry  - Our ministry to our shut-ins include monthly visits from a congregational members;  The Good Friends' Luncehon is held three times a year for our shut-in members, their visitors and friends; and fruit baskets are delivered to our shut-in members twice a year. World Hunger Advocacy  - World Hunger Appeal needs are conveyed to the congregation through this ministry.
