There are three active youth groups within
the congregation: Elementary, Middle School and Senior High. Youth
Ministry is one of the shared ministries within the DuBois Area
Cooperative Lutheran Ministry.
The Elementary LYO includes children from
third through fifth grades.
This group meets once a month during the school year for fellowship
activities and a service porject during the Christmas season. Activities
may include game night, bowling, movie night or roller skating. The year
usually concludes with a trip to an amusement park in the summer.
The chief purpose of the Middle School LYO
is fellowship time together since middle school youth (6th, 7th & 8th
grades) are required to perform service projects through catechism. Their events may include a lock-in, bowling, swimming and
the Allegheny Synod Junior High Events. Middle School LYO also usually
plans a summer outing to an amusement park or places like Carnegie
Science Center.
The youth in grades 9-12 are invited to join
the Senior High LYO. Their advisors are Art & Lori Keller and Jeff &
Donna Bush. The group meets monthly for various fellowship and service
activities, including a video scavenger hunt, glow bowling in Brookville
and a lock-in. This group also participates in synodical and church-wide
events such as the ELCA National Youth Gatherings.
